“Dave (Jay Baruchel) is just an average college student, or so it appears, until the sorcerer Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) recruits him as his reluctant protégé and gives him a crash course in the art and science of magic. As he prepares for a battle against the forces of darkness in modern-day Manhattan, Dave finds it is going to take all of the courage he can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE.”
Get excited because The Sorcerer’s Apprentice heads to theaters this July 16, 2010.
Jay Baruchel plays Dave in Walt Disney Pictures’ ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’, which comes to theaters on July 16, 2010. Rebecca Murray from About.com Hollywood Movies had the chance to chat with Jay at WonderCon in San Francisco about the film.
On why he likes this movie: “I love this one just because this is the kind of movie I grew up loving, you know? To me, it’s so got so much different… It’s got Indiana Jones and it’s got Excalibur in it. I mean, it’s got so much fun stuff in it. It was just your quintessential big, epic, family summer movie with crazy special effects and stunts and set pieces, and an epic story between good and evil. And it’s just like I’m a sucker for this stuff.”
On working with Nicolas Cage: “Unbelievable. Such a generous, caring actor. Such a lovely, compassionate man. Super professional, always on time. And we’re just kind of kindred spirits. We’re both oddballs that march to the beat of our own drum, so I enjoyed working with him and chillin’ with him equally.”
