Which Characters Will Disney Acquire Next?

The Walt Disney Company has plans to acquire either more characters or more companies that have the ability to create new characters for their portfolio. No word yet on if Disney has their eye on any characters or companies in particular, but we’ll keep you posted when we find anything out.

Keith Richards Talks About Working For The Walt Disney Company

Keith Richards, the guitarist for the Rolling Stones, spoke with the LA Times at the premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” about how he felt about working for the Walt Disney Company. Keith plays the character Captain Teague in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. Here’s what he revealed:

No one is more surprised by all of it than me. I never expected to work for the Disney organization for a while. I’m still shocked, but, hey, it’s all good fun.

“Peter And The Starcatchers” Prequel Movie To “Peter Pan”

At a recent shareholders meeting for the Walt Disney Company, the Disney Company’s Chief Executive Bob Iger spoke about the possibility of a “Peter Pan” prequel movie. The film would be called “Peter and the Starcatchers,” and would be modeled after the best-selling children’s novel written by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson in 2004. The book was published by Disney’s Hyperion Books.

According to reports, Disney has already hired a screenwriter to adapt the book into a movie just to see how it goes. We’ll keep you up to date if this film moves forward, but what do you think…should it happen?


Robert Iger Attends The Alzheimer’s Association’s “A Night At Sardi’s” Event

Walt Disney Company Chief Executive Robert (Bob) Iger attended the Alzheimer’s Associations “A Night At Sardi’s” event on March 16, 2011. The event took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California and Robert was an honoree at the event.

Robert accepted the Abe Burrows Entertainment Award in his mother’s name, revealing the following about his mom:

Everything that I have, everything that I’ve ever done, I really owe to [my parents]. Everything that I will ever achieve I owe to them as well, because it started with their love and their support. It’s incredibly heartbreaking to see someone that you love so much fall prey to this disease and realize that you’re relatively powerless to stop it or to even slow it down.

A number of other stars were in attendance at the event, including Disney star Nick Jonas.

The Walt Disney Company Purchases Rocket Pack

The Walt Disney Company has purchased the gaming engine startup company Rocket Pack. The company has made it possible to build games using javascript and CSS that run everywhere, without any necessary plugins or installation.

It is being reported that Disney paid between $10-$20 million for the acquisition. We’ll keep you posted on what Disney does with the company.
