The worlds largest media company Disney has acquired one of the top music related video game developers Tapulous Inc. to expand Disney’s hand-held mobile media business. The Disney companies largest shareholder is Apple CEO Steve Jobs who also sits on Disney’s board of directors, so it’s only fitting that Disney would start it’s expansion into the lucrative apps marketplace.
This is what the official Tapulous blog had to say,
Today, we announced that we are joining Disney. We will be a key part of Disney Interactive Media Group, spearheading their drive to be the leader in mobile entertainment.
As part of Disney Interactive Media Group, we’ll develop more games, more quickly and with the resources of the world’s leading entertainment company. We will continue to develop apps that live at the intersection of music and gaming, but we’ll also push into new and exciting areas of mobile social entertainment.
Now Disney will now be able to implement even more into everything we love about Disney from Movies, Music, Products and it’s theme parks into our portable media devices in the near future.
