After the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, rumors have been flying about Selena Gomez and “Glee” star Mark Salling. Apparently Selena was texting Mark throughout the entire awards show and couldn’t help but smile every time he walked on stage as a co-host of the show.
Selena Gomez is 18 years old while Mark is 28 years old. If the two are dating do you think that 10 years is too big a gap, or do you think that’s fine?
Selena Gomez said in a recent interview that she is not a fan of the “wholesome” image that people keep trying to push on her, rather she is just trying to be herself:
The funny thing is, I really don’t like it when people say I’m wholesome. I don’t like that at all! I never said I was that and I never tried to portray it. I’m honestly doing what I feel like I’m doing… and I’d just like to figure out who I am. I look up to people my family loves. [My inspirations] are Rachel McAdams and Sandra Bullock. They’re very strong women in the acting world and really real people and I love them.

In a recent interview, Selena Gomez said that she has grown to be happy with who she is, including being happy with the way she looks:
I’m very proud of my background and where I come from. When I was younger I thought I had to have blue eyes and blonde hair and be white to [succeed], I know how some girls feel inside. I know they think if they want to be an actress or a singer they have to have those qualities. For me, I love not having blonde hair or blue eyes to prove that we all don’t have to look that way.
Selena is always so inspirational – do you look up to her as a role model?
Selena Gomez says that being passionate helped her become the person she is today:
Being business-minded so young is more about being passionate with the things that you love. I mean, I’ve had people tell me that I would never have my own show, that I wasn’t talented or strong enough. And I’ve had a bunch of people criticize my music and my personal style and everything. I think it’s all about finding something you’re genuinely passionate about that you would never let anything get in the way of. That is a big part of how I became who I am because I love everything that I do. So if you have that passion it will give you the drive that you need to become unstoppable.
