Bridgit Mendler auditioned for the role of Sonny in Sonny with a Chance and although it was given to Demi Lovato instead, the execs at Disney knew there was something special about this girl.
“Bridgit is a great example of … us finding somebody, knowing that we wanted to do business with her and then waiting to find the perfect role,” said Gary Marsh, chief creative officer and president of entertainment for Disney Channels Worldwide.
Bridgit said, ‘I first started off by acting on JONAS. I sent in a tape for that and I was very excited to get picked. I did a couple of episodes of Wizards of Waverly Place. Then they brought me in to audition for Good Luck Charlie. I did a chemistry read with Jason [Dolley] for a little while and then I ended up getting the part. I was so incredibly excited. I was jumping up and down and screaming. I was just so happy to get the part.’
Yahoo News says that Bridgit Mendler is one of the biggest stars you’ve never heard of, but not for long! I think we will be hearing a lot more about Bridgit in the year to come. Not only can she act, but she can sing as well!
