Justin Bieber Helps Jaden Smith And "The Karate Kid" Movie Take #1

June 14, 2010 |  by  |  Share

The success of the movie “The Karate Kid” that brought in a little over $56 million dollars in it’s opening weekend rest not just in the hands of it’s stars Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith or his famous parents Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith who brought the remake to life. The remakes success could very well be due in a small or large part to Radio Disney star Justin Bieber and one of his latest hit singles “Never Say Never” which is off of “The Karate Kid” soundtrack and features the movies star, Jaden Smith.

The younger generation that follows Justin Bieber buys into everything that Justin is apart of and by attaching him to the new movie might have been what catapulted the new movie to #1 at the box office. By releasing the music video for the song “Never Say Never” and adding clips of the movie into the music video, which has already hit 12 million views on Youtube cemented it in the minds of the younger generation and may have been what made it successful in it’s opening weekend.

What do you think? Did Justin Bieber help make the remake movie for “The Karate Kid” starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith a success?

Check out what the star of the movie Jaden Smith had to say about Justin Bieber and their new hit song “Never Say Never” from “The Karate Kid” soundtrack.

  1. Give Jaden Smith his due… the acting rates the movie not the music. Why would Justin Bieber singing a song make it the hit. Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith are the dynamic of the movie. Justin needs to tell his publicist to take a back seat.

  2. yes i did think Justin helped it but that wasn’t the only thing.
credit needs to be shown to the stars of the film
Good job to Justin bieber, Jaden smith, Jackie chan and all the other people involved.

  3. that song was really gdgd i want to hear more from justin bieber and jaden smiths !!!!!! :) <3

  4. ummm “Radio Disney star Justin Bieber”
NO. He’s not part of disney!

  5. i really like the song and it gdgd and i hope thay do a next song like this it a really gdgd song i love u justin <3

  6. uh no justin bieber music didnt help the movie who heel spends there money to see a movie just for one song are you kidding me it about the actors and writes give them credit and stop giving all the attention to some fame whore like justin bieber.

  7. Of course it made a HUGE impact. When Justin Bieber re-tweets someone on twitter, they almost instantly gain 100′s of followers, even if they are just some school kid. His fans latch onto anything that he gives the green light to. That kinda power is quite amazing. Jaden Smith did not do so well in the remake of “The day the earth stood still”, so there was no indication that he would be any good in this. Jackie Chan’s star power became a little washed up with all the Rush Hour remakes and similar styled movies.

But then there is also the generation of people who grew up with “The Karate Kid” that would have had a great influence on the amount of people seeing the film. However, I would guess that many older viewers are a little turned off by the Jackie Chan/Jaden Smith combo. Generally remakes like this don’t live up to expectations, and being more cynical than teens, I imagine many older people wont go to see this.

  8. hey chris? shut up. It was a great film. They all did a great job

  9. Hey, i’m not saying the film was bad, nor that any of the actors did a bad job. Merely that outside circumstances contributed to the amount of people who are going to see it. I am saying that Justin Bieber definitely had a significant impact, but not that this in any way discredits the film. I outlined reasons as to why the film alone may not have pulled in such big numbers – such as the limited star presence of Jaden, and the fact that Jackie Chan is a little past his use by date. I also suggested that an alternate reason to the Bieber, for the large numbers, could be attributed to the generation of people who grew up with the original movies, wanting to see the remake. I also noted that the cynical nature of older audiences, might not respect the idea of remaking classic films, and may however not see it for that reason.

Based on that fair and unbiased analysis, I see no reason to one, tell me to “Shut up”, as i both support the movie, the actors and Justin Bieber. Two, to imply that I am suggesting they ‘greatness’ of the film or the job done by the actors, was not good enough on its own. Sure, the film would have pulled the numbers without Bieber’s help, but you have to be completely ignorant to think he didn’t have a major effect.

  10. I’m 12 and I’m a huge Justin Beiber fan, but to suggest that my family and I went to see the movie and my parents spending almost $80, so I can listen to JB’s song that I had already heard and seen on Youtube 1000 times, is kinda stupid.

I love JB, but I didn’t go the the movies because of the song. Common are you guys for real?

  11. I forgot, Chis btw, I saw the first Karate Kid, and I’m sorry to tell you, this one is 1000 times better. At least Jackie Chan is a real martial artist, whereas Mr. Miyagi was not, and Jaden is a lot better than that Daniel San from the first ones. This movie is a lot better.

  12. LOL! I didn’t even know who Justin Bieber was until I went on the Karate Kid board and someone posted that Jaden had made a video with him . Jaden, Will Smith and Jackie have been promoting this movie had. Jaden was on Oparh and the Ellen show. He was so cute on the Ellen show when he started dancing the Folks in the audience Jumped up and clapped, dance. That boy has moves also! WoW! Now you know folks are not going to see a movie just for one song when they can download it. I tell you who made this movie big, I think that many kids are in karate classes and many kids are bullied at school and they wanted to see this movie!

  13. Your missing the point!!! No one is suggesting they are going to the movie to listen to the song! LOL The point is that Justin Bieber attached himself to the film, through his collaboration with Jaden on the song, and therefore brought with him a whole bunch of fans (3 million followers alone on twitter). The point is, when just bieber supports something – ie THIS FILM – his fans will support it.

Once again for those of you playing, my point (and the articles point) is NOT that people go to the movie just to listen to the bloody song! It is that SOME people go because of the influence JB has within youth culture at the moment.

AGAIN I am saying this is an INFLUENCE, and is NOT the only reason for this film’s popularity.

Love that people can’t accept a point of view that isn’t attacking either side.

  14. i think justin made it a hit because he is soo talented and super cute and no matter what nobody can take that away from him so deal with it. your not going to make a difference by makin fun of him and tellin everyone on the internet how much u dont like him who cares what u think dont look at his pictures and listen to his songs if u cant stand him plain and simple…

  15. I crazy abount jaden smith…….<3<3<3<3<3
