When Are Marvel Characters Coming To The Disney Parks?

May 14, 2010 |  by  |  Share

Recently, Bob Iger, the President of the Walt Disney Company, talked about Disney’s relationship with Marvel Comics, which it recently purchased in 2009. While Disney hopes to bring a number of Marvel influences to its parks, we shouldn’t expect to see any changes soon because of a deal that Marvel had made with the Universal Studios Islands of Adventure in Florida.

While some Marvel merchandise has been added to the Disney Parks and Disney Stores, Disney will have to sort out all of Marvel’s previous deals before it is fully able to integrate the characters and franchise opportunities into its own park.

  1. I’m a fan of the Marvel movies and characters, but I hope they never come to the Disney parks, or at least not the current slate of Disney parks. They’re really not needed. I believe their influence would change the parks in a way that would just upset the delicate, yet finely tuned balance that has been created. Now, if they wanted to build an all new Marvel based park, that would be acceptable, but please, please, PLEASE don’t bring them to the existing parks. Don’t want ‘em, don’t need ‘em. If you want to see Marvel characters, go to Universal, Disney still gets a portion of that money, so why not.

  2. AGREED Sir GrumpyFan! The Marvel comics, the characters, the movies are great but of a completely different genre. You don’t blend ice cream & sushi. They are to be enjoyed separately.
